The challenge for every organisation is to create a health and safety initiative that reinforces the policies, programmes, and practices of health and safety. A further challenge is to bring energy and vigour to programmes that essentially repeat the same information repeatedly. All too often, safety managers and safety coordinators have the daunting task of ensuring that safety and its associated practices within the organisation are top of mind. The phrase “familiarity breeds contempt” may well be true or perhaps more accurately “familiarity breeds indifference” becomes a scary consideration where life and wellbeing are at stake.
